Safer communities

The voluntary and community sector is engaged in a range of work linked to the work of Safer Middlesbrough Partnership, including drug and alcohol support services, work with ex-offenders and services with a focus on domestic violence and sexual exploitation.

MVDA has made a significant contribution to the safer communities agenda through, for example, an initiative to address homophobic and transphobic hate crime, including the launch of reporting centres and the establishment of a case group.* MVDA has a seat on Safer Middlesbrough Partnership's Responsible Authorities Group.

We are disappointed that from 1 April 2011 we no longer have a specialist Planning and Partnership Officer for safer communities.
